Maria Francesca Cabrini was born July 15, 1850, in Sant’Angelo Lodigiano, Kingdom of Lombardy-Venetia, Austrian Empire.

She arrived in the United States in 1889.

Mother Cabrini founded the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and established 67 schools, hospitals and orphanages.

She became a U.S. citizen in 1909.

Mother Cabrini died in Chicago at age 67 on Dec. 22, 1917

Her final resting place is in New York City.

She was beatified on Nov. 13, 1938, by Pope Pius XI.

Pope Pius XII canonized her on July 7, 1946.

Her feast day is Nov. 13.

She is the patron saint of immigrants.
