Clergy assignment changes

 


Father Alexander V. Clark concluded his appointment as parochial vicar of St. Gabriel Parish, Concord Township and he was appointed administrator of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, Wickliffe and administrator of Immaculate Conception Parish, Willoughby, effective June 9.


Father Joseph D. Menkhaus Jr. concluded his appointment as parochial vicar of St. Bernadette Parish, Westlake and he was appointed administrator of St. Bernadette Parish, Westlake, effective July 1.


Father Cameron D. Popik concluded his appointment as temporary administrator of St. Luke Parish, St. Clement Parish and St. James Parish in Lakewood and he was appointed administrator of St. Luke Parish, St. Clement Parish and St. James Parish in Lakewood, effective May 1.


Father Joshua J. Cochrac concluded his appointment as administrator of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, Wickliffe and as administrator of Immaculate Conception Parish, Willoughby, effective June 9. He was appointed coordinator of pastoral formation for Saint Mary Seminary and Graduate School of Theology and for Borromeo Seminary, effective July 1. His residence will be at the Center for Pastoral Leadership, effective that date. This appointment is in addition to his assignment as pastor of St. Justin Martyr Parish, Eastlake.


Father Michael J. Stalla concluded his appointment as coordinator of pastoral formation for Saint Mary Seminary, effective July 1. He remains pastor of St. John of the Cross Parish, Euclid and SS. Robert and William Parish, Euclid and as an adjunct faculty member for the seminary.


Father Timothy J. Plavac was appointed as director of spiritual formation for the Permanent Diaconate Formation Office, effective June 1. This appointment is in addition to his appointment as pastor of St. Bede the Venerable Parish, Mentor.


Father Thomas P. Kowatch concluded his appointment as parochial vicar of SS. Robert and William Parish, Euclid and he was appointed senior parochial vicar of SS. Robert and William Parish, Euclid and senior parochial vicar of St. John of the Cross Parish, Euclid, effective June 9.


Father Patrick A. Spicer concluded his appointment as parochial vicar of St. Columbkille Parish, Parma and he was appointed to a four-year assignment as parochial vicar of Holy Family Parish, Parma, effective June 9.


Father Scott E. Swinerton concluded his appointment as parochial vicar of St. Mary Parish, Hudson and he was appointed to a four-year term as parochial vicar of St. Luke Parish, St. Clement Parish and St. James Parish in Lakewood, effective June 9.


Father David M. Verbsky concluded his appointment as parochial vicar of St. Francis de Sales Parish, Akron and he was appointed to a four-year assignment as parochial vicar of St. Francis Xavier Parish, Medina and as parochial vicar of Our Lady Help of Christians, Litchfield, effective June 9.


Father Frank G. Godic resigned from the office of pastor of Immaculate Conception Parish, Cleveland and he was granted senior priest-retired status in the Diocese of Cleveland, effective May 24.


Father Joseph R. Spolny concluded his appointment as parochial vicar of Holy Family Parish, Parma and he was granted senior priest-retired status in the Diocese of Cleveland, effective June 9.


Father Ralph G. Hudak was granted permission to take up residence as a senior priest-retired in the rectory at St. Francis de Sales Parish, Parma, effective June 30.


Father Philip G. Racco was granted permission to take up residence as a senior priest-retired in the rectory of St. Basil the Great Parish, Brecksville, effective July 1.


Father Thomas M. Dragga, pastor of Resurrection of Our Lord Parish, Solon, was reelected to represent Priest Group II (those ordained 1982-85) on the Clergy Personnel Board. The three-year term of office began June 1.


Father John J. Schneider, pastor of St. Thomas More Parish, Brooklyn, was elected to represent Priest Group V (those ordained 2006-14) on the Clergy Personnel Board. The three-year term of office began June 1.


Father Kenneth F. Wallace concluded his appointment as director of spiritual formation for the Permanent Diaconate Formation Office, effective June 1.


Father Charles R. Cairnie was ordained a priest of the Diocese of Cleveland on May 16 and was appointed parochial vicar of St. Anthony of Padua Parish, Parma and parochial vicar of St. Francis de Sales Parish, Parma, effective June 9.


Father Mitchell T. Carson was ordained a priest of the Diocese of Cleveland on May 16 and was appointed parochial vicar of St. Joseph Parish, Avon Lake, effective June 9.


Father Cameron M. Ferrell was ordained a priest of the Diocese of Cleveland on May 16 and was appointed parochial vicar of St. Francis de Sales Parish, Akron, effective June 9.


Father Nathan M. Frankart was ordained a priest of the Diocese of Cleveland on May 16 and was appointed parochial vicar of St. Mary Parish, Hudson, effective June 9.


Father Truong “Joseph” Viet Ho was ordained a priest of the Diocese of Cleveland on May 16 and was appointed parochial vicar of St. Sebastian Parish, Akron, effective June 9.


Father Sean P. Neville was ordained a priest of the Diocese of Cleveland on May 16 and was appointed parochial vicar of St. Mary Parish, Chardon and parochial vicar of St. Patrick Parish, Thompson, effective June 9.


Deacon Bruce H. Tennant concluded his diaconal assignment at St. Agnes Parish, Elyria and was granted retirement status as a deacon of the Diocese of Cleveland, effective May 31.


Deacon Zakary I. Jester was ordained a permanent deacon of the Diocese of Cleveland on May 2 and he was appointed to serve as deacon at St. Raphael Parish, Bay Village, effective May 18.


Deacon Jerald M. Joyce was ordained a permanent deacon of the Diocese of Cleveland on May 2 and was appointed to serve as deacon at St. Anselm Parish, Chesterland, effective May 18.


Deacon William M. Prebel was ordained a permanent deacon of the Diocese of Cleveland on May 2 and was appointed to serve as deacon at SS. Cosmas and Damian Parish, Twinsburg, effective May 18.


Deacon Jon G. Woost was ordained a permanent deacon of the Diocese of Cleveland on May 2 and was appointed to serve as deacon at St. Bernard Parish, Akron and as deacon at St. Mary Parish, Akron, effective May 18.


Father Michael Marcelli, with the permission of the Most Rev. David J. Bonnar, bishop of Youngstown, concluded his appointment as parochial vicar of St. Sebastian Parish, Akron and was appointed to a four-year assignment as parochial vicar of St. Gabriel Parish, Concord Township, effective June 9.


Father Elizer Tampac Mondragon, with the recommendation of the Most Rev. Leo M. Dalmao, bishop-prelate of the Prelature of Isabela de Basilan, Philippines, concluded his appointment as parochial vicar of the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, Cleveland and was appointed parochial vicar of St. Columbkille Parish, Parma, effective June 9. His residence is at the St. Columbkille Parish rectory.


Father Andrew J. Hoover concluded his assignment as administrator of St. Francis de Sales Parish, Parma and was appointed pastor of St. Francis de Sales Parish, Parma, effective June 15. He also was granted permission to serve as a Catholic chaplain for the Parma Fire Department, effective immediately. These assignments are in addition to his current assignment as pastor of St. Anthony of Padua Parish, Parma. His residence remains unchanged.


Father Norman K. Douglas was granted permission to continue as pastor of St. Vincent de Paul Parish, Akron, for an additional year, effective March 24.


Father Ronald J. Turek was granted permission to continue as administrator of St. Agnes Parish, Orrville, for an additional year, effective June 15.


Father Ralph G. Hudak resigned from the office of pastor of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, Cleveland and was granted senior priest-retired status in the Diocese of Cleveland, effective June 30.


Father Joseph L. Labak resigned from the office of pastor of Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, Wadsworth and was granted senior priest-retired status in the Diocese of Cleveland, effective June 30.


Father Philip G. Racco resigned from the office of pastor of St. Bernadette Parish, Westlake and was granted senior priest-retired status in the Diocese of Cleveland, effective June 30.


Father Ryan J. Cubera concluded his appointment as the diocesan assistant moderator for the Cleveland Retrouvaille Community and was appointed moderator for the Cleveland Retrouvaille Community, effective May 1, continuing for an indefinite period. This appointment is in addition to his appointment as pastor of St. Mary of the Falls Parish, Olmsted Falls.


Father Ryan J. Mann concluded his appointment as diocesan moderator for the Cleveland Retrouvaille Community, effective May 1. His current assignment as pastor of St. Basil the Great Parish, Brecksville and upcoming assignment as assistant director of the Office of Ongoing Formation for Clergy of the Diocese of Cleveland remain unchanged.


Father Daniel R. Fickes was granted permission to move from his current residence at the rectory of Holy Spirit Parish, Avon Lake to the rectory of St. Jude Parish, Elyria, effective April 23. His current assignment as chaplain of St. John Medical Center, Westlake remains unchanged.


Father Dinyuy Paul Wirsiy was granted permission to move from his current residence at the rectory of St. Brendan Parish, North Olmsted to the rectory of St. Richard Parish, North Olmsted, effective April 15. His current assignment as parochial vicar of St. Brendan Parish, North Olmsted remains unchanged.


Father Finbar Ramsak, OSB, with the recommendation of the Right Rev. Gary Hoover, OSB, abbot of St. Andrew Abbey, was appointed pastor of Assumption Parish, Broadview Heights, effective July 1. His residence will be at the rectory of Assumption Parish.


Father Justin D. Dyrwal, OSB, with the recommendation of the Right Rev. Gary Hoover, OSB, abbot of St. Andrew Abbey, concluded his assignment as pastor of Assumption Parish, Broadview Heights, effective June 30. He was appointed to ministry as chaplain at Holy Family Home Health Care and Hospice, effective July 1. His residence is in the designated priest chaplain quarters on the grounds of Holy Family Home Health Care and Hospice.


Father Duckhyun “Fabian” Han, with the approval of Archbishop Thaddeus CHO, Kwan Kil, archbishop of Daegu, South Korea, concluded his appointment as parochial vicar of St. Mary Parish, Chardon and parochial vicar of St. Patrick Parish, Thompson, effective June 3. Father Han returned to his home Archdiocese of Daegu.


Father Leonard Cencula, with the recommendation of the Very Rev. Bradley W. Greer, delegate of the apostolic administrator of the Diocese of Steubenville, was granted faculties in the Diocese of Cleveland, effective March 25, for a period of one year.


Deacon Gerald Blanda was appointed deacon of St. Francis de Sales Parish, Parma, effective April 15. His appointment as deacon of St. Anthony of Padua Parish, Parma remains unchanged.
